Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name given to Winona Laura Hoowitz who was birthed within Winona Minnesota. Her parents named their daughter the city she grew up in after her birthplace. Her father Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder, who considers herself Jewish, is descended from Ryder's Jewish father. She has a younger brother Uria and half-siblings Jubal as well as Sunyata. Ryder's parents moved her along with their children in Mendocino County California when Ryder reached seven. There they didn't have electricity. Ryder was a consummate bookworm and would spend her days reading books as she had no television. Ryder, then 12, enrolled at the American Conservatory Theatre for acting classes in the year 1983. Lucas, a 1986 film which was her first big part. Ryder was only fifteen when she landed the role. Ryder experienced bullying at the high school. Her hope was that acting would bring about a change. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. The actress continued to chase her dreams. She got her break in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice in 1988. Ryder was a star in numerous films. In 1993, she was awarded an Oscar Prize in the film The Age of Innocence.
