Whitney Houston and Dana Bash

Whitney Elizabeth Houston, born 9 August 1963 into the musically inclined family of Newark New Jersey is the daughter of gospel star Cissy Houston and John Russell Houston Jr. She's also the cousin of the singer Dionne Warwick. Her first singing gig was in the choir at her church The New Hope Baptist Church in Newark as a young child and at fifteen, she was singing back vocals professionally with their mother in Chaka Khan's hit song from 1978 Im Every Woman. In the following years, she was a background vocals for Lou Rawls & Jermaine jackson and even her mother. In 1981, she began to work as a vocalist in the New York funk group Material. The band's excellent vocals of this group that attracted the attention of record labels including Arista. In 1985, the debut of Whitney Houston became one of the most successful debut albums ever. Her album featured several hits such as How Will I Know You're Good to Me, Saving all My Love For you and The greatest Love of All. It helped her achieve seven US chart-topping songs in succession and beat the Beatles. The album debuted in 1987, and it sold over 25 million copies worldwide. The Whitney 1987 album, with Where Do Broken Hearts and I Wanna Dance With Somebody as popular songs, was a way to build on the successes she'd had. However, the 1992 movie The Bodyguard sealed her spot as one of the most successful musicians in history. Although the film and the performances of the actress were not well-received, the soundtrack album that featured her interpretation of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You was her most popular single and album for several months. It sold over 44 million copies around the world. The same year that she welcomed her daughter Bobbi, Brown married Bobby Brown of the ex-New Edition group. Dana Bash is also known as Dana Ruth Schwartz and she works for CNN as a reporter, anchorwoman and political reporter.
